El proyecto portuario <\/span><b>Puerto Bar\u00fa en Chiriqu\u00ed <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pretende abrir un canal de navegaci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s del \u00e1rea protegida de Manglares de David, una especie protegida por la Ley 304 de 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seg\u00fan el <\/span><b>informe t\u00e9cnico independiente de <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/noapuertobaru.com\/en\/press-release\/environmental-damage-report-puerto-baru\/\"><b>Lynker (2024)<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, el dragado requerir\u00eda la remoci\u00f3n de <\/span><b>m\u00e1s de 9 millones de metros c\u00fabicos de sedimentos<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, generando plumas de dispersi\u00f3n que podr\u00edan extenderse varios kil\u00f3metros, que podr\u00edan reducir la capacidad de los manglares para proteger la costa de la erosi\u00f3n. Tambi\u00e9n se\u00f1ala que el modelo de dispersi\u00f3n utilizado por los promotores \u201c<\/span><b>no sigui\u00f3 las mejores pr\u00e1cticas cient\u00edficas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d, lo que pone en duda la validez de sus conclusiones ambientales (p. 7).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Puerto Armuelles, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">por otro lado,\u00a0 ya cuenta con <\/span><b>aguas naturalmente profundas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, lo que \u201c<\/span><b>eliminar\u00eda la necesidad de costosos dragados de capital y mantenimiento<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d, informe <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/noapuertobaru.com\/en\/articles-2\/panama-port-relocation-environmental-threat\/\"><b>Lynker (2025) <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Resumen Ejecutivo p.1) y reducir\u00eda los riesgos sobre los ecosistemas sensibles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El dragado no solo remueve arena: remueve la vida que sostiene a Panam\u00e1 como pa\u00eds costero.
