According to the <\/span>independent technical report of <\/b>Lynker (2024)<\/b><\/a>, dredging would require the removal of <\/span>more than 9 million cubic metres of sediment<\/b>, generating dispersion plumes that could extend several kilometres, which could reduce the capacity of mangroves to protect the coast from erosion. Furthermore, <\/span>Puerto Baru <\/b>it has a depth of a few metres at low tide, which implies continuous and costly dredging to allow medium-sized vessels to pass.
