The actress of <\/b>Bridgerton<\/i><\/b> y <\/b>Sex Education<\/i><\/b> he visited the Gulf of Chiriqu\u00ed and shared images of the landscapes he encountered during his time in Panama. His visit brings an important question back to the table: if the world comes to Panama looking for nature, why don't we invest more in protecting it?<\/b><\/p>\n

Sometimes we need someone to come from afar to remind us of the value of what we have right in front of our eyes. The British actress <\/span>Simone Ashley<\/b>, known worldwide for her roles in <\/span>Bridgerton<\/span><\/i> y <\/span>Sex Education<\/span><\/i>, recently visited the <\/span>Gulf of Chiriqu\u00ed, Panama<\/b>, and shared part of her experience surrounded by nature.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sea, forests, tropical landscapes and some of the most extraordinary ecosystems of the Panamanian Pacific were part of the backdrop. Her visit leaves a reflection that goes far beyond a celebrity enjoying Panama, which is that nature can also be development.<\/span><\/p>\n

The world comes to Panama looking for nature<\/b><\/h2>\n

People who travel thousands of kilometres to discover Panama are looking for precisely what cannot be found just anywhere: mangroves, dolphins, whales, birds, beaches, forests, communities and cultures tied to those lands.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Gulf of Chiriqui<\/b> brings together all those elements and has enormous potential for developing experiences of <\/span>sustainable tourism in Chiriqu\u00ed<\/b> able to generate economic opportunities whilst preserving what makes the destination unique.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mangroves of David also have economic value<\/b><\/h2>\n

Talk about the <\/span>Mangroves of David<\/b> it does not mean talking solely about biodiversity, nature also sustains economies. An example is found in the mangroves of <\/span>Remedios, San F\u00e9lix and San Lorenzo, in the Gulf of Chiriqu\u00ed<\/b>, whose economic contribution was estimated at more than <\/span>B\/. 27 million a year<\/b>, according to data cited by MiAmbiente, UNDP and CI.<\/span><\/p>\n

The data allows us to look at mangroves from another perspective; a protected mangrove sustains fishing-related activities, protects the coastlines, harbours biodiversity and creates the conditions for activities such as kayaking trips, wildlife watching, community tourism and other nature-related experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n

What development do we want for Chiriqu\u00ed?<\/b><\/h2>\n

This question takes on special relevance in light of the debate on <\/span>Puerto Bar\u00fa, in David, Chiriqu\u00ed<\/b>. The port project has opened a discussion about the future of a territory where mangroves, biodiversity, communities and economic activities directly linked to the health of the ecosystems coexist.<\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps that is the conversation Panama needs to have; it is not about choosing between nature and development, it is about asking ourselves what kind of development we want. Because we probably do not need to build more to offer more. <\/span>

\n<\/span>Simone Ashley's visit might seem like a small story\u2014an international actress arrived in Chiriqu\u00ed, experienced its landscapes and shared what she found with the world. But behind those images lies something much bigger, and that is that Panama already has something that millions of people around the planet are looking for: extraordinary nature.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The development we are looking for does not necessarily need more concrete; it needs more protected nature and local enterprises that preserve and sustain more experiences capable of connecting people with what Panama already has.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
