Afortunadamente la propuesta finalmente no avanz\u00f3 pero, dos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, los l\u00edmites de los <\/span><b>Chiriqu\u00ed mangroves<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> vuelven a estar sobre la mesa.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>2024: una primera alerta sobre los manglares<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En 2024, el Ministerio de Ambiente (gobierno anterior) present\u00f3 una propuesta para modificar los l\u00edmites de los Manglares de Alanje, David y San Lorenzo. Organizaciones ambientales presentaron observaciones y alertaron que la propuesta pod\u00eda implicar una reducci\u00f3n de <\/span><b>m\u00e1s de 11.600 hect\u00e1reas del \u00e1rea protegida<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, incluyendo zonas terrestres y marinas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ese mismo a\u00f1o, con el cambio de gobierno y la llegada de <\/span><b>Juan Carlos Navarro<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> al Ministerio de Ambiente, la propuesta fue detenida antes de ser publicada en Gaceta Oficial. Parec\u00eda que la discusi\u00f3n hab\u00eda terminado, lamentablemente no fue as\u00ed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>2026: los l\u00edmites vuelven a estar en discusi\u00f3n<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En julio de 2026, el Ministerio de Ambiente abri\u00f3 esta nueva consulta p\u00fablica y, con ella, regresaron algunas de las preguntas que ya hab\u00edan surgido dos a\u00f1os antes: \u00bfQu\u00e9 territorios quedan dentro? \u00bfCu\u00e1les quedan fuera? \u00bfQu\u00e9 criterios cient\u00edficos justifican los nuevos l\u00edmites? \u00bfY qu\u00e9 consecuencias podr\u00edan tener estos cambios para uno de los ecosistemas costeros m\u00e1s importantes de Panam\u00e1? La propuesta actual podr\u00eda reducir en m\u00e1s de 9.000 hect\u00e1reas el \u00e1rea protegida de los manglares de Chiriqu\u00ed, espec\u00edficamente en Alanje, David y San Lorenzo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En 2026 tenemos una nueva propuesta pero tambi\u00e9n una nueva oportunidad para mirar con atenci\u00f3n. Proteger los manglares no significa oponerse al desarrollo, significa exigir que las decisiones sobre el territorio consideren el valor ambiental, social y econ\u00f3mico de ecosistemas que tardaron siglos en formarse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Mucho m\u00e1s que \u00e1rboles: el valor de los Manglares de David<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Manglares de David, en Chiriqu\u00ed<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, son mucho m\u00e1s que \u00e1rboles creciendo entre el oc\u00e9ano y la tierra. Aqu\u00ed se encuentran <\/span><b>11 de las 12 especies de manglar presentes en Panam\u00e1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y algunos de estos \u00e1rboles alcanzan hasta <\/span><b>50.9 metres high<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1752\" src=\"https:\/\/noapuertobaru.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/manglares-de-david-chiriqui-panama.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/noapuertobaru.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/manglares-de-david-chiriqui-panama.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/noapuertobaru.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/manglares-de-david-chiriqui-panama-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/noapuertobaru.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/manglares-de-david-chiriqui-panama-819x1024.jpg 819w, https:\/\/noapuertobaru.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/manglares-de-david-chiriqui-panama-768x960.jpg 768w, https:\/\/noapuertobaru.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/manglares-de-david-chiriqui-panama-10x12.jpg 10w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los manglares sostienen biodiversidad, contribuyen a las econom\u00edas locales, protegen las costas y ayudan a reducir el impacto de inundaciones y otros eventos extremos. Por eso, modificar los l\u00edmites de su protecci\u00f3n merece una discusi\u00f3n informada, transparente y basada en evidencia cient\u00edfica.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Puerto Bar\u00fa tambi\u00e9n forma parte de esta conversaci\u00f3n<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La discusi\u00f3n adquiere todav\u00eda mayor relevancia ante el proyecto <\/span><b>Puerto Bar\u00fa, en David, Chiriqu\u00ed<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, que ha generado preocupaci\u00f3n por sus potenciales impactos sobre los manglares y los procesos naturales que mantienen este ecosistema.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El futuro de Puerto Bar\u00fa y el futuro de los Manglares de David no pueden analizarse como conversaciones completamente separadas.
