Limits exist to protect, under that premise, environmental organisations, specialists and citizens are calling for participation in the Public consultation opened by the Ministry of the Environment on the proposal to create the Alanje, David and San Lorenzo Mangrove Managed Resource Area<\/a>, an opportunity to strengthen the protection of one of the country's most important coastal ecosystems.<\/span><\/p>\n The citizen initiative seeks to convey a simple but fundamental idea, which is that <\/span>A mangrove doesn't function in isolation<\/b> Water, tidal channels, sediments, species and forests are part of the same ecological system, which is why what happens in one part of the ecosystem has repercussions throughout the landscape.<\/span> Today you have the opportunity to help strengthen the protection of one of Panama's most important ecosystems.<\/span><\/p>\n The proposal represents progress in protecting mangrove forests, but can still be strengthened.
