{"id":1518,"date":"2026-05-14T11:48:33","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T10:48:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/noapuertobaru.com\/?p=1518"},"modified":"2026-05-14T11:49:45","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T10:49:45","slug":"unesco-lo-confirma-proteger-funciona","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/noapuertobaru.com\/en\/articles-2\/unesco-lo-confirma-proteger-funciona\/","title":{"rendered":"UNESCO confirms that protecting works"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mientras la biodiversidad mundial enfrenta una crisis sin precedentes, la UNESCO acaba de publicar un mensaje claro para el mundo: las \u00e1reas protegidas s\u00ed funcionan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En su nuevo informe<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco.org\/es\/articles\/vivir-con-la-naturaleza-la-unesco-protegiendo-la-vida-y-el-patrimonio\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cVivir con la naturaleza en los sitios designados por la UNESCO<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: contribuciones mundiales y locales\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, la organizaci\u00f3n revela la existencia de 2.260 sitios vivos donde las personas y la naturaleza coexisten y prosperan juntas. Desde Dja hasta Groenlandia, estos territorios representan espacios donde comunidades, ecosistemas y conocimientos tradicionales han logrado mantenerse a pesar de las crecientes amenazas clim\u00e1ticas y ambientales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los sitios designados por la UNESCO son territorios reconocidos por su valor excepcional para la humanidad. Incluyen Sitios de Patrimonio Mundial, Reservas de Biosfera y Geoparques Mundiales de la UNESCO.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cada uno cumple un rol distinto, pero todos comparten un mismo objetivo: proteger biodiversidad, patrimonio natural y culturas vivas mientras promueven modelos sostenibles para las comunidades locales.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En conjunto, estos sitios abarcan m\u00e1s de 13 millones de kil\u00f3metros cuadrados, una superficie mayor que India y China combinadas y sostienen la vida de aproximadamente 900 millones de personas. Adem\u00e1s de albergar m\u00e1s del 60% de las especies animales registradas en el planeta y sus bosques absorben alrededor del 15% de todo el carbono captado globalmente por los bosques.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>UNESCO tambi\u00e9n plantea una urgencia<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El mismo informe se\u00f1ala que cerca del 90% de estos sitios enfrenta riesgos crecientes debido al cambio clim\u00e1tico, las presiones sobre el uso del suelo y otros impactos humanos. M\u00e1s de una cuarta parte podr\u00eda alcanzar puntos cr\u00edticos en las pr\u00f3ximas d\u00e9cadas si no se fortalecen las acciones de protecci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Y ah\u00ed es donde Panam\u00e1 entra en esta conversaci\u00f3n global\u00a0 hoy, el proyecto Puerto Bar\u00fa podr\u00eda convertirse en un riesgo. El proyecto Puerto Bar\u00fa contempla dragado intensivo, aumento del tr\u00e1fico mar\u00edtimo y transformaci\u00f3n industrial dentro de un ecosistema altamente sensible en el Golfo de Chiriqu\u00ed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La naturaleza no reconoce fronteras, las corrientes marinas conectan ecosistemas, especies y territorios. Por eso distintas voces cient\u00edficas, organizaciones ambientales y actores locales e internacionales han advertido que los impactos potenciales del proyecto podr\u00edan extenderse mucho m\u00e1s all\u00e1 del \u00e1rea inmediata de construcci\u00f3n. Hasta alcanzar ecosistemas conectados como el Parque Nacional Coiba, declarado Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO desde 2005.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coiba no es un territorio aislado, forma parte de una red ecol\u00f3gica conectada con el Golfo de Chiriqu\u00ed, sus manglares y ecosistemas costeros.
