They are raising their voices because two Panamanian environmental organisations have faced criminal lawsuits. Their \u201ccrime\u201d? Questioning a port project that would put at risk the <\/span><b>mangroves of David<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, one of the most important ecosystems in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Puerto Bar\u00fa case marks a turning point. Instead of responding to technical, legal and environmental questions, which are widely documented, criminal complaints are being used to silence citizen participation. That commitment is not symbolic. It implies concrete obligations: to protect those who defend the environment, guarantee their participation and prevent any form of intimidation or institutional violence. That is why today we state clearly: defending the environment is a right, not a crime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Say <\/span><b>No To Puerto Bar\u00fa<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> today it is much more than opposing a port project.
