It is not a new idea or an abstract promise. It is a territory with existing infrastructure and natural conditions that avoid destroying what protects us.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today a question arises: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why insist on Puerto Bar\u00fa when Puerto Armuelles offers more advantages and fewer impacts?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Puerto Armuelles is already a reality: infrastructure, deep-water access and less environmental damage \ud83c\udf31.#NoAPuertoBar\u00fa\" width=\"422\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/o8e76MFfS4k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A message to Puerto Bar\u00fa investors from Professor El\u00edas Mart\u00ednez, Electronics Engineer<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>An evidence-backed alternative<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cPanama. An alternative to Puerto Bar\u00fa: Puerto Armuelles\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, produced by Lynker, analysed in detail the oceanographic, logistical and environmental conditions of Puerto Armuelles as an alternative port location.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The conclusion is clear: <\/span><b>Puerto Armuelles meets, in several aspects, the operational requirements defined for Puerto Bar\u00fa<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with lower environmental risks and greater capacity for expansion<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Environmental advantage: far from mangroves and protected areas<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unlike Puerto Bar\u00fa, which is located next to legally protected mangroves, Puerto Armuelles is situated outside sensitive areas, significantly reducing the risk to Chiriqu\u00ed's coastal biodiversity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a country that recognises the Rights of Nature, this difference is no minor matter: it is an ethical and legal line.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>Logistical advantage: existing infrastructure and real connectivity<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Puerto Armuelles already has two viable access routes to the Pan-American Highway, including a 37.1 km four-lane road to Paso Canoas, fully operational for freight transport. In addition, the study identifies a <\/span><b>30.7 km alternative route<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> what could be developed to bypass residential areas and organise the logistics flow.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4>\u00abAccess between Puerto Armuelles and the city of David is available via two routes, both connecting with the Pan-American Highway\/Route 1\/CA-1 and David. The first route uses the existing northbound road leading out of Puerto Armuelles, travelling approximately 37.1 km to Paso Canoas on the Panama-Costa Rica international border (blue line, Figure 2-1). A review of satellite imagery shows that this route is a four-lane divided highway, with two southbound lanes and two northbound lanes. This preliminary assessment indicates that the current road should be a suitable freight access route to Puerto Armuelles, although the distance to David via the Pan-American Highway is greater.\u00bb<\/h4>\n<h4>An alternative 30.7 km route (red line, Figure 2-1) for the potential construction of a new road has also been identified. Puerto Armuelles is a natural deep-water port, with depths close to the coast required for large vessels, without the need for constant dredging.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why insist on Puerto Bar\u00fa when Puerto Armuelles offers more advantages and fewer impacts?
